OENOGASTRONOMY

In Sicily because of its special climate, its geographical position, the land charateristics and the tempterature, it allow the production of exceptional quality wines that every year impose theirself in all the world like excellence productseno. Nero d’Avola, Cerasuolo di Vittoria, Frappato, Moscato and Passito are only some of the wines that made famous the sicilian cellars.

Wonderful Sicily association organizes touristic tours and degustation tours in the most famous and award-winning cellars in the Vinitaly competition and in other international wine competiotions.

The very special Sicilian history, the different culture mix enoduring the centuries influenced also the sicilian cuisine: expecially arabs, spanish, french, jewish, left a big trace in the sicilian cookery tradition. Now excellent resturants and agritourisms can allow you to discover this oenogastronomic heritage, unique in the world.

There are a lot of excellent products that make unique this land, its smells and its tastes.

enoFor the olive oil lovers, in the province of Ragusa you can taste the famous DOP olive oil of the Ibei Mountains produced in Chiaramonte Gulfi close to Ragusa, that from many years is one of the three most important qality olive oil in Italy.

If you love the cheese, you can taste "Ragusano dop" produced only in the province of Ragusa by the "massari" (local farmer) following an ancient recipe and exported all over the world, with a lot of other products like: the cow ricotta (kind of cottage cheese), the provola ragusana and the peppered Pecorino cheese (sheep's milk cheeese), etc.

Characteristics are, also, the vegetable preserved in oil (aubergines, artichokes, olives, dry tomatoes, etc.), pleasant by the tourist and exported all over the eno world with the tipical "scacce"(kind of flat bread that we suggest to you to taste), the hard wheat bread, and the sausages.

for the most greedy, our land offer to you a lot of delicious sweets, result of the mix of the Arabic and Mexican's cusine: the tipical “mpanatigghi”, the "mucatoli" (old Arab's recipe), the Chocolate of Modica (made from and old Mexican's recipe brought in ragusa on 1600 and still now followed for the ingredients and for the manufacture process), the cannolo and the cassate of cow cheese, and more other products!
